Professor (Mrs) Sarah Anyanwu

Professor Sarah Olanrewaju Anyanwu is a Professor of Development Economics in the Department of Economics, University of Abuja. A former Director, Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, University of Abuja, she has over 30 years of experience in the university system and many publications in national and international journals to her credit.

Her research interests include macro-economic analysis, poverty reduction, public sector economics, gender issues, education issues, programme and project monitoring and evaluation/ impact assessment, trade promotion, strategic planning, public financial management, human resource and industrial economics and service delivery issues.

In addition to being a former Vice President now Life Member of Nigerian Economic Society (NES), Prof Anyanwu is also a member of other professional associations such as Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), African Institute of Applied Economics (AIAE) and Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG). She has served as Consultant to the British Council, World Bank, International Labour Organization (ILO), European Union (EU), and various MDAs. She also participated in the study on Meeting the Employment Creation Challenges and Opportunities in Nigeria, the Presentation of Findings at the High Level Experts Meeting of the National Employment Summit and the Preparation of a National Employment Action Plan for Nigeria (2009) co-organized by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity and ILO as well as in the preparation of the National Action Plan for Youth Employment in Nigeria organized by Federal Ministry of Youth Development.

A former Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck E. Jonathan on Gender and Development Issues in the Office of the Chief Economic Adviser to Mr. President from November 2010 to May 2011, Prof. Anyanwu is a happily married mother of five and enjoys reading, travelling, table tennis and project supervision.

She brings the wealth of her experience to IPPAM as a Member of the Governing Council.
